My Experience

Amber+Raine+profile.jpeg

I began my career in cosmetic surgery 15 years ago at the Harley Medical Group and underwent a rigorous classroom and theatre- based training programme. I have an excellent understanding of the full range of procedures, divergent surgical techniques, approaches and specialities as well as the limitations of surgery. And more importantly, the emotional, physical and financial considerations the impact of having surgery and the effects on self when things don't go to plan.

Throughout my early career at the Harley Medical Group, Transform and more recently my six years at the internationally acclaimed Cadogan Clinic in Sloane Street, I have worked extremely closely alongside both patients and surgeons, sitting in on surgeon consultations. I have been privileged to have gained a deep insight in to the patient journey and experience, and importantly of the myriad of motivations, influences and feelings that patients experience and have shared with me.

My Experience

In addition to the full range of facial and body procedures (both surgical and non-surgical) I have worked in specialist areas of surgery including :

  • women considering specialist vaginal procedures, such as reconstruction and labial reduction and reconstruction after FGM and the psychological impact on these patients

  • men considering the treatments and surgeries associated with erectile dsyfunction and the desire to increase penis size  and the driving motivations and effects on relationships

  • Specialist scar revision - following self-harm, accidents or attacks, under the tutelage of specialist surgeons such as Mr. Nick Parkhouse, who has taught me much about the  psychological impact of scars on patients, and the very individual process of healing by replacing old scars with neutral new ones.

I have seen cosmetic and plastic surgery from the inside, which gives me a valuable and unique insight and experience which I draw on as a therapeutic counsellor in my work with patients in my practice.

My aim and commitment is to provide surgeons and patients with the missing link to bring together seamlessly the physical and emotional wellbeing of patients;  and to provide a much needed layer of psychological care and support as they make decisions about their bodies which will impact them for life and hopefully enhance it.
